WHY SHOULD I GET WIND?
If you live on an open plain, coastal, or mountainous region then you may experience large gusts of wind. Wind turbines function with 3 to 5 propellers that, when exposed to wind, will turn a rotor that generates an electric current. At a commercial level, wind is more affordable than solar. Newer wind turbines are beginning to shift the residential market towards affordability and longevity, offering 40-year warranties.
WHERE ARE GOOD LOCATIONS TO GET WIND?
This map represents key areas throughout California that frequently measure large gusts of wind. In general, wind power is successful when, within a 72-hour time interval at least 60% of wind gusts reach at least 6m/s.
Coastal and mountainous regions tend to get the largest amounts of wind. However, this does not mean that you cannot get substantial wind exposure in other locations.
How much do wind turbines cost?
Wind turbines have traditionally cost $10,000 and up for homeowners, business owners, and organizations. Given this large cost it was difficult to justify investing in wind. However, the price has come down substantially, and most people are now seeing it well worth the cost with just a 5-year payback period.
Similar to solar, there are now $0-down financing options with 30% tax rebates. There are also local and state financial aids and incentives. Please give us a call to learn more about these amazing opportunities.
